Polyken

“On-Site” Field Coating System

Polyken Pipeline Coatings are used in virtually every pipeline coating application, but nowhere has their success been more apparent than in on-site field installations in Malaysia. In addition to being less complicated than hot coating and providing a more uniform coating, the Polyken system represents a far smaller investment in men and equipment.

For example, on a 1000 mile run of 30 inch pipe, an on-site application of primer, polyethylene-backed adhesive tape coating, and polyethylene outerwrap can be accomplished with a 60% cost reduction and at a rate of two to three miles of coated pipe per day.

Some of the Polyken Products We Offer

Polyethylene, chosen primarily for its chemical stability, provides maximum protection against both chemical and electrolytic corrosion and offers excellent resistance to abrasion, shrinkage, cold, heat, pressure, bending and stretching.

POLYKEN #980 SERIES PRIMARY COATING

BASIC USE:

Polyken #980 is a primary coating system incorporating polyethylene backing with a butyl rubber-based adhesive to assure high bond to primed steel pipe. It is designed for machine application and delivers excellent conformability when applied over seamed, spiral welded or extruded pipe.

PRODUCT ADVANTAGES:

  • Proven Performance? :#980 is one of the Polyken field coatings that have grown up with the pipeline industry over the past half of a century.

  • Unparallel Adhesion :?The special butyl rubber adhesive system on Polyken #980 is unequaled for high adhesive bonds to primed steel. Equally important, the adhesive system is laminated to the polyethylene film backing to assure a totally integrated corrosion protection system.

  • Maximum Corrosion Protection? : Available in a variety of thicknesses to meet the most hostile terrain and climatic conditions, #980 provides in-ground or aboveground pipelines with optimum electrolytic and moisture resistance.

  • Ease of Application ?Polyken : #980 provides a uniform lap, superior bond, and optimum conformability under controlled tension. The result is a uniform, reproducible, consistent coating over the entire length of any size pipe

POLYKEN #955 SERIES PIPELINE OUTERWRAP

BASIC USE:

Polyken #955 is a protective pipeline outerwrap that is used where a complete bond of outerwrap to tape is specified. Because it is a polyethylene film with a bonding adhesive, it stays with the tape and never disappears or disintegrates. The adhesive assures a complete bond and eliminates the need for tie-downs on the outerwrap.

PRODUCT ADVANTAGES:

  • Proven Performance? :Polyken #955 is one of a family of Polyken outerwraps that have proven themselves on pipelines throughout the world over the past fifty years.

  • Tight Bond :?The recommended outerwrap wherever a complete bond to tape is required. Tough, pressure sensitive adhesive means the outerwrap bonds and stays permanently.

  • Ease of Application : Engineered to achieve a taut, smooth machine wrap over a wide range of primary coatings, Polyken #955 is the first choice when an adhesive bond of the outerwrap to the primary coating is specified.

POLYKEN #930 SERIES FITTINGS INNERWRAP

BASIC USE:

A heavy-duty joint-wrap tape, Polyken #930 is designed for hand wrapping field joints, fittings, ells, tees, valves & flanges. Its extreme conformability at temperatures as low as -34 Degrees Celsius makes #930 ideal for smooth, tight, totally protected joints. A butyl rubber adhesive assures excellent aging and high adhesion. No heat is required during or after wrapping. Polyken #930 has no bothersome inner liner to complicate the wrap. The low-density polyethylene backing assures corrosion and abrasion resistance as well as high dielectric strength and high moisture resistance.

PRODUCT ADVANTAGES:

  • Proven Performance? :Polyken #930 is one of a family of accessory products used by major pipeline contractors the world over. It is engineered to deliver maximum pipeline protection while requiring a minimum of application skill.

  • High Conformability :?The extreme flexibility of the butyl rubber adhesive and Polyethylene film of Polyken #930 assures a totally protected, smoothly hand-wrapped joint, fitting, tee or ell.

  • Optimum Corrosion Protection :?#930 Joint Wrap utilizes a polyethylene film with a butyl rubber adhesive system to deliver impact resistance to rocks and backfill as well as maximum dielectric strength and moisture resistance.

  • Ease of Application :Polyken #930 is cold applied. You need only apply the Polyken primer, then wrap #930 over the primed area.
