Polyken
“On-Site” Field Coating System
Polyken Pipeline Coatings are used in virtually every pipeline coating application, but nowhere has their success been more apparent than in on-site field installations in Malaysia. In addition to being less complicated than hot coating and providing a more uniform coating, the Polyken system represents a far smaller investment in men and equipment.
For example, on a 1000 mile run of 30 inch pipe, an on-site application of primer, polyethylene-backed adhesive tape coating, and polyethylene outerwrap can be accomplished with a 60% cost reduction and at a rate of two to three miles of coated pipe per day.
Some of the Polyken Products We Offer
Polyethylene, chosen primarily for its chemical stability, provides maximum protection against both chemical and electrolytic corrosion and offers excellent resistance to abrasion, shrinkage, cold, heat, pressure, bending and stretching.
BASIC USE:
Polyken #980 is a primary coating system incorporating polyethylene backing with a butyl rubber-based adhesive to assure high bond to primed steel pipe. It is designed for machine application and delivers excellent conformability when applied over seamed, spiral welded or extruded pipe.
PRODUCT ADVANTAGES:
BASIC USE:
Polyken #955 is a protective pipeline outerwrap that is used where a complete bond of outerwrap to tape is specified. Because it is a polyethylene film with a bonding adhesive, it stays with the tape and never disappears or disintegrates. The adhesive assures a complete bond and eliminates the need for tie-downs on the outerwrap.
PRODUCT ADVANTAGES:
BASIC USE:
A heavy-duty joint-wrap tape, Polyken #930 is designed for hand wrapping field joints, fittings, ells, tees, valves & flanges. Its extreme conformability at temperatures as low as -34 Degrees Celsius makes #930 ideal for smooth, tight, totally protected joints. A butyl rubber adhesive assures excellent aging and high adhesion. No heat is required during or after wrapping. Polyken #930 has no bothersome inner liner to complicate the wrap. The low-density polyethylene backing assures corrosion and abrasion resistance as well as high dielectric strength and high moisture resistance.
